Trying to stay stealthed until your ships can unload can be hard but it is possible. Dragon campaign, you will get a lot of fast corvettes with ASMs that you can mass for overwhelming strikes against the AI destroyers, but the corvettes are very weak and will die to a single missile strike. Smaller ships become visible closer to their targets and also become visible at further range when they fire a weapon system (including CIWS). It can become a problem on maps with lots of LOS hiding spots and lots of AI ships/planes with dangerous missiles (long range, high to hit %, and high damage). If you have decent CIWS the latter isn't so much a problem as the AI tends to fire it's missiles whenever it is in range. Here are some tips for naval battles against the AI that may help:Ĭoordinate ASM strikes between units utilizing line of sight, scouting, weapons OFF/ON, range, and Bullet Time time setting.ĭepending on what units you and your enemy are using, you either find yourself shooting first or getting shot at first. If you finish the campaign fast enough, this should be the first and last naval battle you encounter(not counting Korean marines landing Vladivostok),so don't fret if you lose many ships and planes. The Soviets should surrender soon enough.

Then head north to delta, get some Korean planes with ASM,leave something to capture delta, then send your Ludas westward.the last remaining sovermenny should be in the Soviet spawn point, send the planes first, then the Ludas to finish the job. There might be some planes, keep the formations tight and take them out.Ĭlose the ASM,wait for the sovermenny to get in rangeĪnd unleash all of them,it should be sufficient to take it out.use the twin 130 cannons to take out other small vessels.Īfter this battle, check your fleet's condition and ammunition.resupply if 's ok to lose some Ludas in this battle. I'll give it another shot.īasically the problem I was having, trying to cripple their fleet, taking out a few capital ships seemed to be good enough.įirst, summon an extra battlegroup of Chinese Luda, spam 8 pf them, then rally everybody and head east to Charlie.Īfter arrival, get extra Ludas if you have points.line them all up and wait for the Soviet sovermenny to show up,keep in mind that your main goal here is to take out the 2 sovermennys.after that it's easy mopping up. For some reason I was assuming that I had to take out their whole fleet, but I guess the goal is to hit their point threshold. I watched the video and I see what he was getting at. Haha thanks, I still play a lot of Generals (Rise of the Reds is the true Generals 2). So that's my advice, have a look at the videos section above and maybe the strategies other use will help. I ended up watching the Pearl of the Orient walkthrough and found the naval battles particularly interesting because the approach was different to my usual strategy. When I moved to Dubai I was waiting on my pc and ended up looking into how other people played the campaigns for sh.its and giggs. If I had some advice, I'd say one thing that helped me is watching some of the walkthroughs in the video section. I don't play naval too often and I try to avoid them in campaign, they are an absolute bloody nightmare. Originally posted by Warwolf:First off, brilliant reference in your name. Is it all in how you time missile barrages? Do your ships automatically deploy chaff (I've seen the Soviet ships disperse smokescreens)? Am I supposed to capture Valdivostok by land first to cut off the northern naval zone? I've looked at guides, but very little is on general naval tactics.

I'm not particularly bad at Wargame, but there's obviously something I'm missing here. nothing works and at best, I can sink only like 2-3 corvets. I tried pincer formations, maneuvering around the chain islands. I tried to cut off their command ship in their northern zone to cut off MiG assaults that decimate my command ships, to no avail. Even 9 ASW jets pounding their command ship barely dent it. However, after like 20 attempts, I just couldn't put a dent in the Soviet naval fleet, with Chinese/DPRK naval ships and ASW jets. I was trying to conduct a pincer movement against Vladivostok using an army from the west and navy from the south. Then I got stonewalled in early in the China campaign. Finally got RD, completed the Korea campaign. Got ALB years ago and really like this series.
